Curlin, Medaglia d’Oro Star at Fasig Tipton
The Saratoga Sale got off to an spectacular start Monday night, with average and median eclipsing last year’s figures and an exceptionally low RNA rate.
A colt by Curlin (Hip 45) proved most popular Monday night during the first session of The Saratoga Sale, breaking the seven-figure mark when hammered down for $1,000,000 to Eric Fein (video). The colt, offered by Denali Stud for breeder Stonestreet Farm, is out of Princess Rooney H. (G1) winner River’s Prayer (Devon Lane), who has already produced three winners.
One hip earlier, a son of Medaglia d’Oro (Hip 44) offered by Gainesway came near the top mark when sold for $900,000 to the partnership of Mike Repole and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. Towards the close of the session, an Into Mischief half-brother (Hip 98) to graded stakes winners Ami’s Holiday and Ami’s Mesa brought $850,000. The colt was purchased by Lael Stable from the consignment of Warrendale Sales, agent for breeder Tall Oaks.
