Christopher Columbus “Hate” is an Assault on America’s Legacy

Happy Columbus Day, otherwise known as just another day when ignorant political-correctness police besmirch and defame another of history’s greats for not being perfect, Bill O’Reilly wrote in a column Monday.

“True, Columbus instituted slavery on the island of Hispaniola circa 1500, and for that, the PC police would have this country erase his name and supplant the holiday of one of the world’s greatest navigators with “Indigenous People’s Day,” writes the prolific author.

“We live in a time where severely misguided people with little frame of reference are dictating how history should be told and what Americans have a right to see and hear,” Mr. O’Reilly wrote. “And if you disagree with them, then you, yourself, are ‘oppressive.’ And they will cover up your statue.

“Christopher Columbus was not a villain and does not deserve the vilification the PC police are heaping upon him. Every person on the planet has done bad things, but it is the totality of a human being that should be the litmus test,” Mr. O’Reilly wrote.

Shaming Columbus is just a prequel for more to come in the erosion of America’s legacy.

“Soon, the loons will come for the slaveholders George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. In fact, the Dallas school board is now debating their diminishment right now,” Mr. O’Reilly said.
