California Wants to Become the Abortion Capital of America

FLASH: Friday, California Governor Gavin Newsom delivered a message to any woman looking to have an abortion in states that have outlawed the practice: our doors are open.

Governor Newsom issued a Proclamation Friday that 2X’d down on the state’s pro-abortion stance in the wake of several GOP-controlled states signing bills into law that made abortion illegal.

“California will continue to uphold women’s equality and liberty by protecting their reproductive freedom, educating Californians about their rights to reproductive freedom, welcoming women to California to fully exercise their reproductive rights, and acting as a model for other states that want to ensure full reproductive freedom for women,” the document reads.T

Louisiana became the latest state to sign into law a ban on abortion, with Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards putting his name on the legislation Thursday.

Other states have enacted similar laws over the last several weeks, a list that includes Mississippi, Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia, and Alabama.

Pro-choice advocates are outraged and have vowed to push back.

In the case of Georgia, for example, several actors and Hollywood studios said they will not work in Georgia unless the abortion ban is erased in the courts.
