Brooke Sweeney and O’So Hazy: Can Girl Power take the Kosciuszko
There is only 1 mare in the Kosciuszko and that is Larneuk bred O’So Hazy, a mare by the award winning sire O’Lonhro. She is teamed up with her regular rider Brooke Sweeney one of the finest Jockeys any where in Australia and the pair are a serious player in Saturdays $1.3m Kosciuszko.
Only 24, Brooke has proven just what a talented rider she is with her impressive record:
|Race Location||Starts||1st||2nd||3rd||Win %||Place %||Prize Money|
|NSW – Country||635||90||72||64||14%||35%||$1,120,357|
|VIC – Country||744||56||63||73||7%||25%||$1,092,841|
|VIC – Metro||60||4||2||4||6%||16%||$202,990|
|SA – Metro||4||1||0||0||25%||25%||$27,600|
|NSW – Metro||3||0||0||2||0%||66%||$55,430|
Brooke and O’So Hazy have teamed up before, also at long odds in the country championships at Royal Randwick back in April when the pair took 3rd place.
This weekend the stakes are higher, but Brooke and O’So Hazy are not without hope, drawn well in barrier 6 on what is expected to be a heavy track the gutsy mare and her formidable rider are going to give it all they have.

O’So Hazy’s sire O’Lonhro is a close relative of I Am Invincible is having an exceptional year both on the track and at stud.
Bookings for O’Lonhro have soared at Larneuk compared to previous years as his talented progeny have been proving themselves on racetracks around the country. O’Lonhro has gotten off to a good start at stud with his first few crops producing Mamzelle Tess, the winner of six and Group placed in May, stakes placed O’Lonera – also a 6-time winner with over half a million in the bank – O’Lonh Star (6 wins), Big Reel (6 wins), O’ So Hazy (5 wins). All up … nearly 70 winners of circa $4 million.
A cracking individual who is renowned for throwing them to type, O’Lonhro was unbeaten in his two starts as a 3YO before capping his career at four with a victory in the time honoured Group Two Chelmsford Stakes (emulating his sire and beating home Group One Doncaster Handicap winner, Triple Honour), along with a second in the Group Two Warwick Stakes.
