Box Office: ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Passed $2.0-B

The Marvel tenpole now sits as the 2nd-highest-grossing film of all time, only behind James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ with $2.189-B.

It has surpassed James Cameron’s Titanic (1997), which earned $2.187-B. Endgame achieved this after collecting another $145.8-M domestically and $282.2-M overseas in its 2nd frame.

The Top-grossing film of all time is Cameron’s Avatar (2009), with $2.8 billion at the global box office.

Heading into the weekend, the Avengers installment earned the highest-grossing week of all-time, collecting an astounding $562-M at the global box office from Monday to Thursday.

Endgame is one of only 5 films to pass the $2-B mark, joining fellow Disney titles Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). It reached the threshold in record time, in only its eleventh day of release.

Endgame has hit the $620-M mark in North America, becoming the 9th all-time highest earner. While it had a strong 2nd weekend at the domestic box office, it did not reach the #1 spot. With its $145.8-M in stateside sales, Endgame trailed The Force Awakens, which earned $149.2-M stateside in its 2nd week of release.

Overseas, Endgame is now the 2nd-highest-grossing release of all time with $1.57-B at the international box office, 2nd only to Avatar ($2-B).

After a record-breaking opening, Endgame dropped 55% from last weekend. This hold is a stronger one than other Marvel titles, including Avengers: Infinity War (61%) and Captain America: Civil War (59%).

Have some fun, see a movie this week.
