Wolf Cry

Wolf Cry is a son of the great Street Cry – whose name has been in the headlines with the amazing deeds of his superstar daughter Winx. He is a magnificent type being purchased by James Bester at the 2014 Magic Millions where he was secured for $320,000 (the fifth highest priced Street Cry colt that year). Showing early toe, Wolf Cry contested the first two-year-old stakes race for the season, the Listed Breeders Plate at Randwick in early October. He finished a pleasing third behind the subsequent Golden Slipper winner Vancouver. On proving himself a serious horse he was turned out.

Next seen in mid-February, Wolf Cry was straight back into strong company in the Listed Lonhro Stakes at Randwick. He sat wide but was a game third, less than a length from the winner and on the strength of that run he was sent out second favourite in the Gr.2 Skyline Stakes where he unfortunately found trouble. But like all good horses fought hard and was still gallant finishing third to future Gr.1 winner Exosphere.

After contesting the Gr. 3 TL Baillieu Handicap Wolf Cry had a well-earned extended break.

Spelling well, he returned as a short priced favourite in Australia’s richest maiden – the 1200m contest at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions Day which he won by three lengths … recording a faster time than that of Capitalist winning the Magic Millions 2Y0 Classic later that day.

Wolf Cry’s pedigree is one of great appeal. His sire Street Cry has been an international sensation represented by 110 stakes winners, 20 of whom are Group One winners including Winx, Zenyatta, Whobegotyou and Pride Of Dubai.

Already his sons are proving their worth at stud, Per Incanto, Shocking, Street Boss and Street Sense all siring Group One winners.

Wolf Cry’s dam is the talented race mare Starfish. Runner up in the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at her two-year-old debut, the Gr.3 placed metropolitan winner has been doing the job at stud with all three of her runners to date being winners.

The two times stakes placed dual city winner Glenbawn Dame is another of her’s and the best may still be to come with her $500,000 Medaglia d’Oro colt Equus D’Oro a member of the Snowden stable.

Starfish is a daughter of the Group One sprinting mare Stella Cadente, dam of three black type performers including the juvenile stakes winner Brilliant Bisc.

This is one of Australia’s favourite families, one that has also produced the Golden Slipper heroine Bint Marscay, the Epsom Handicap/Caulfield Stakes winner Filante, the Coolmore Classic winner Bollinger, the VRC Derby winner Benicio and the Australian Guineas winner Kenny’s Best Pal.

Brilliant Group 2 winning and dual group placed son of champion sire Fastnet Rock. From a female line littered with 2yo stakes performers this stunning individual is blessed with great scope and strength and exudes presence. With his first foals due to arrive this season we eagerly await their arrival and are sure that the many breeders who supported him will be extremely happy with their decision.

Jockey Tim Clark also impressed – “he has an awesome turn of foot – he is a real horse, he is Group One quality.”

Son of the tough and talented Tarcoola Diamond, a Listed winner also two times Group placed – granddaughter of the Group One winning juvenile I Like Diamonds (AJC Champagne Stakes).

A speed pedigree with the great influences Danehill, Last Tycoon and Bletchingly.

Son of champion sire Lonhro from multiple group winning mare Mamzelle Pedrille. This record breaking Group 2 winner has inherited his sires outstanding looks and magnificent conformation so it is no wonder his progeny are performing on the racetracks. From limited numbers O’Lonhro has an amazing winners to runners strike rate of 45.1% with 19.6% placegetters. [51 runners, 23 winners & 10 placed]. With his best yet to come we look forward to the coming season to see his career continue to rise.

A powerful dark brown, near black stallion who could easily be mistaken for his 11 times Group One winning sire, O’Lonhro was so highly regarded by the powerful Hawkes stable that an international campaign was being considered.

A horse who is stamping his progeny with his own impressive looks and considerable presence, O’Lonhro hails from a prolific in-form black-type family.

Included amongst his close relations is I Am Invincible – 2103/14 Champion First Season Sire, sire of five stakes winners including Group One star Brazen Beau – and Group One Queen Of The Turf Stakes winner Diamond Drille.

O’Lonhro’s progeny are proving themselves to be tough and consistent and already he has sired the talented winners Social Media, Big Reel, Je Suis Priest, Little Capri, Union Jukebox and the exciting Singapore galloper Black Magic.

From his first 27 runners he has had 10 winners and 8 placed horses.
