Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) set to report results for the holiday season after-the-bell on Tuesday
Apple (AAPL) is set to report results for the holiday season after-the-bell on Tuesday, and the bar couldn’t be much lower.
The Cupertino, California-based said in a statement January 2 that it expects revenue of $84 billion for the fiscal first quarter of 2019, an about 8% reduction from its previous estimates. This had been Apple’s first negative preannouncement since June 2002, driven by worse-than-anticipated iPhone upgrades as well as economic deceleration “particularly in Greater China,” the company said.
The stock fell 9.96% in the first trading day following the news.
Given the preannouncement, the focus for Tuesday’s earnings report and conference call will skew heavily toward guidance for the quarter ending in March, rather than the “post-mortem on the December quarter,” Tom Forte, D.A. Davidson analyst, said in a phone interview with Yahoo Finance.
Specifically, investors are likely to be listening carefully for two things: 1) How bad are things in China? and 2) How strong is the services business?
