Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) expected to post EPS at $11.12
With a market cap of over $760 billion, Google parent company Alphabet, Inc. is the third largest publicly traded entity in the world. In a recent survey of online search engine and social media use, Google’s audience reported the most stability, with 96% of those surveyed saying they use the Google site, and 95% saying that their use of Google as remained steady or increased in the past six months.
With near-total market penetration, and a stable user base, Google and its subsidiaries have a firm foundation to build advertising revenues. So, it may be a surprise that GOOGL stock has ended 2018 almost exactly where it began: trading at $1,100 per share. Despite the share price having dipped recently, GOOGL is looking at a strong fourth quarter report.
The strength of that quarter will be obvious on February 4, when Alphabet releases its Q4 FY2018 earnings. The company is expected to post EPS at $11.12, for 6.9% year-over-year growth. The quarterly revenues, at $31.26 billion, are expected to show a 20.8% increase from the year-ago quarter.
The upbeat expectations are behind five-star Stifel analyst Scott Devitt’s $1,300 price target on GOOGL stock. That’s an 18% upside potential, which is doubly impressive given the already high value of the shares. Regarding the upcoming earnings, Devitt says, “…he expects Alphabet to grow total net revenue 20.5% in Q4, which is roughly in line with the consensus forecast.”
Heading into earnings season, GOOGL has a ‘Strong Buy’ analyst consensus, based on a unanimous 18 ‘buy’ ratings. The average price target is $1,352, giving a 22% upside to the current share price of $1,101.
