AFL-CIO President Praised President Trump’s Proposed Infrastructure Plan.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka praised US President Donald Trump’s proposed infrastructure plan.

His comments came during a TV interview after  President Trump said he would take action to rebuild the nation’s infrastructure.

President Trump wants Congress to approve a $1-T package financed through public and private investment.

Mr. Trumka said he supports the plan.

“A trillion dollars is the right magnitude to be talking about,” he said. The Society of American Civil Engineers thinks it’s more like $3-T. ”

Trumka, noting it will lead to significant job creation, did voice concern over public-private partnerships, however.

“They are good around the edges but you’re not going to get them to go into rural America where the infrastructure really is crumbling,” he said.

“It’s going to take a major infusion of public capital, and I hope the principle he will use is that we will use this project and insist on the lowest cost of capital so the tax dollar gets the biggest bang for the buck, If he does that I think we will support him whole-heartedly.”

President Trump said the program will create “millions of new jobs,” in his speech Tuesday night.

I expect our President’s infrastructure program to be a Key area with bi-partisan agreement.
