For a small farm in Euroa Victoria it is amazing how many major race days feature Larneuk bred horses, considering the relatively few horses the farm produces.
Larneuk in Sydney
It was another big day of Racing in Australia with the running of the $600,000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill Gardens, one of the most important races for fillies and mares.
Larneuk bred El Dorado Dreaming (3f Ilovethiscity x Solanas (NZ) (Zabeel (NZ)) , winner of the 2018 Sires Produce put in a huge effort to run second, already a Group 1 winner this was her 6th Group placing and she is only a 3 year old.
Ilovethiscity (Magic Albert) started his career at Larneuk but has now moved over to Noor Elaine Farm.
There are 6 still Larneuk bred Ilovethiscity yearlings on the farm and one 2yo Vegas Vic currently in pre-training.
Ilovethiscity started his stud career in encouraging fashion, most notably producing El Dorado Dreaming (Ilovethiscity x Solanas) who stormed over the top of Oohood winning the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes at Royal Randwick.
That victory placed Ilovethiscity within an elite group of sires that have both won a Group 1 and produced a Group 1 winner.
He has also produced the likes of stakes placed Chapel City, city winners Plenty To Like, Ilovevegas, Brisvegas and City of Dreams together with Singapore winner Filibuster.
Larneuk in Melbourne
It was a big day in Melbourne today as well with the running of the inaugural All-Star Mile.
Lareuk and award winning sire O’Lonhro (Lonhro) were represented on the day with 2 runners, the 3 times Group placed Mamzelle Tess (O’Lonhro x Phoenix Crown) in the 1st and Lady Solly a 3yo (O’Lonhro x Recession Buster) who has made an impressive start to her racing career having won almost $50,000 in just 5 starts.
Mamzelle Tess went down the straight in the 1200m Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour Trophy and put in an enormous effort to finish strongly along the rail to finish third less than a length away from the winner, there is plenty more in store for Mamzelle Tess.
Lady Solly had the unenviable task of leading the field for most of the Furphy Ale Trophy down a straight 1100m at Flemington, a tall order for any horse, although she faded some at the finish the run gave plenty of hope to connections and she looks to have a promising career ahead of her.
Larneuk have 1 O’Lonhro 2yo a Colt in pre-training named Ex Officio and a single yearling Colt out of Perfect Luck.
With breeding season around the corner you should definitely keep Larneuk in mind.
