2 Big Days at The Curragh

The Curragh stages a competitive programme of racing this Friday and Saturday.  Friday features the Paddy Power Amateur Riders Derby, while Saturday’s high quality card features a trio of Group 3 races – John Sisk & Son Round Tower Stakes, Snow Fairy Stakes and    Flame of Tara Stakes, together with the 100,000 euro Tote Irish Cambridgeshire

I’m So Fancy, Who’s Steph, Espere, Hence and Mary Tudor are among the 23 entries for the Group 3 Snow Fairy Stakes on Saturday. A strong British trained challenge looks likely with the William Haggas trained Dynamic and Ummalnar, Snowy Winter trained by Archie Watson, Adorable trained by Mick Channon and the Roger Varian trained Narella. The Joseph O’Brien trained Dynabee has been added to the race as a supplementary entry at a cost of 6,500 euro.

There are still forty horses left in the ultra competitive Irish Cambridgeshire. Leading contenders in the 100,000 euro contest include Smash Williams, Lucius Tiberius, Lethal Power, Astronomer, Ice Cold in Alex and last year’s winner Elusive Time. British trained entries include Greatest Journey, Redgrave, Fayez, Firmament, Bravery and Battle of Marathon.

Aidan O’Brien’s impressive maiden winner Ten Sovereigns is among 14 entries in the Group 3 John Sisk & Son Round Tower Stakes. Other notable contenders include Could Be King, Mia Mento, Evasive Power and the Mick Channon trained Jungle In The Bungle

Recent Debutante Stakes runner up Bandiuc Eile is among the 12 entries in the Flame of Tara Stakes (Group 3). Other entries include the Aidan O’Brien trained Pink Dogwood and Just Wonderful, the Dermot Weld trained Lightning Amber and Chynna trained in Britain by Mick Channon.

On Saturday, an exciting “Curragh Development Interactive Information Area” will be located in the Grand Hall Marquee to showcase the new development, including the chance to view the spectacular new grandstand via virtual reality, while this exciting initiative will provide the opportunity to meet some of the members of the Curragh and John Sisk & Son project team who will be available to give a fascinating overview of the overall development project.

The annual Jog for Jockeys 5k Fun Run takes place after the last race on Saturday raising funds for the Injured Jockeys Funds.  All are welcome to take part and registered runners receive free entry to the races – see jogforjockeys.ie

Friday is the final in the Curragh Summer Sounds Series with a live performance from DJ and RTE Presenter Blathnaid Treacy after racing

Final runners for both days will be confirmed at declaration time. Friday’s runners will be declared at 10am on Thursday and Saturday’s runners will be declared at 10am on Friday
