6. Sunday Nights at Burleigh Heads
Sundays at Burleigh is the perfect way to cool down with the locals and say goodbye to the weekend.
For all those looking for something to do on their lazy Sunday afternoon, why not head down to Burleigh Heads? After a swim or even a surf in the waves, Sunday at Burleigh is the perfect way to cool down with the locals and say goodbye to another weekend.
Located right in the centre of Justin’s Park, it is a festivity you can’t miss. The atmosphere is contagious and on a good, cloudless night, is filled with people singing, dancing and jamming. It starts at 5pm every Sunday and is only ever cancelled depending on the weather.
The Bongo Beat is put on by the community for the community with its defining attractions: the fire circle and the bongo circle. You can be as involved with the activities as you want – it’s up to you. If you want to dance then dance, if you own a bongo drum or any other type of instrument, then bring it along for a jam.
Of course there are other activities if you don’t want to be amongst all the flurry. There’s often a couple of slack lines – like tightropes but more wobbly – set up between trees where you can test your balance. There’s also a hula-hooping area where you’ll come across and play with some unique, handmade hula-hoops, and if you like it enough, why not buy one off the lovely local lady as a souvenir?
Just off the highway at Helensvale you will find Gold Coast’s creative playground, NightQuarter, which features night markets, micro-restaurants, and a unique live music space called The Paddock. Step inside to find over 120 specialty food purveyors, designers, musicians and craftspeople and experience the local communities love for food, music and culture.

9. Tallebudgera Creek
Ancient Aborigines used to call this Gold Coast suburb “good fish” and you’ll hear no argument from anyone on this apt name. For Tallebudgera is best known for its sparkling creek which is framed by the Burleigh Heads National Park on one side and Palm Beach on the other. This is the focal point for any visit to Tallebudgera where the lifestyle is all about camping, swimming, picnicking, kayaking and a spot of fishing or two.
So popular is the campground here, that generations of families return each summer to claim their favourite spot at the Tallebudgera Creek Tourist Park which is perched on the edge of this estuary. For those looking for a little luxury there’s also two and three bedroom waterfront villas, or basic lodgings for those on a budget.
While the waters in the creek are renowned for their relative calm, those seeking surf need only walk to nearby Tallebudgera Beach for a few waves. For a true taste of this part of the coast, head to the Tallebudgera Surf Lifesaving Club for a meal at Club Talle. Tally-ho and all that.

One and a Half Hour Jet Ski Safari (40km) Blast your way along the beautiful sub tropical shores of South Stradbroke Island. We head North for a good 20 km weaving our way up past beautiful Islands, beaches sandbars and through mangroves where we then stop at a beautiful tropical bar on South Stradbroke Island for refreshments before turning back to ride the 20 km home. On a Sunday morning we give an extended stay and if desired you can enjoy the all you can eat buffet breakfast on offer for an additional $17 per person.
Two and a Half Hour Jet Ski Safari(80km) Voted No.1 best activity on the Gold Coast this is a must do! Veer off the beaten track and get right out there amongst it all. It’s a full on mission that will have you on the edge of your ski!
