Shannon “SLam” Lawrence “Now” Shannon “SLam” Ridley, Multi Platinum Producer and former Bad Boy Record’s Director of A&R, producer, recording engineer, writer, entrepreneur, and musical mastermind has risen to the Top of the musical world since first becoming an intern at Bad Boy Records in 1998. His long and still continuous grind to the pinnacle of the musical game all began when “SLam” left his hometown of Detroit Michigan and moved to New York City in hopes of showcasing his skills as a musical engineer.
It wasn’t long after he arrived in heart of the “Big Apple” that he got the opportunity of lifetime engineering for Bad Boy R&B sensation Mario Winans. It was that very opportunity that launched “SLam” down the path of success and eventually led to his life long friendship with R&B mogul Sean “P Diddy” Combs.
SLam’s rise to the Top of the world- renowned Bad Boy Records Co. was a swift steady movement. After interning for just one year with the label, P Diddy hired “SLam” as his recording engineer. A short year later he became the labels Production Coordinator, and in the year to follow “SLam” was given the high honor of becoming the labels Director of A&R. During his tenure with Bad Boy “SLam” oversaw, produced, and wrote music for some of the industries most acclaimed artists such as Chris Brown, Lil’ Kim, Keyshia Cole, Danity Kane, Mario Winans, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, and of course his main man Sean “P Diddy” Combs. During that time “SLam” also served as a judge on Bad Boy Entertainment’s MTV hit show, “Making The Band”, helping to selected the hit sensation Day 26.
His most recent accomplishments include the completion of Full Court Press Volume 1, that brought together past and present NBA stars from Shawn Marion to Iman Shumpert have teamed up with artists from Snoop Dogg to Future to create a CLEAN, motivating, and inspiring album that kids and families all over the world will enjoy.
SLam’s credits include, but are not limited to Diddy’s Press Play album; Diddy featuring artists such as: Keisha Cole’s #1 Hit Single, “Last Night”, Christina Aguilera’s “Tell Me”, Nicole Scherzinger’s “Come To Me”, and was part of a 13-city Casting Tour of MTV’s Making The Band 4.
