Three Classic Ferrari F1 Racers Coming To Auction At Monterey

Bonhams are set to auction off 3 1960-70 Ferraris race cars, one of was a race winner at the hands the late Gilles Villeneuve, and another won the 1969 Australian Grand Prix.

Ferrari 312T3 chassis # 033 was driven by Carlos Reutemann during the Y 1978 season, winning the British Grand Prix, before Villeneuve drove it to victory in the traditional non-championship race at Brands Hatch, the ‘Race of Champions’ in Y 1979. It is listed without reserve but with an expected price of $1.6-2.1-M (312T3 is pictured above at Brands Hatch).

For between $1.3-1.9-M, you could buy the  Ferrari Dino 166/246T driven by Chris Amon in the 1969 Tasman Series, the New Zealander driving the car to victory in that year’s Australian Grand Prix at Sandown on his way to taking that year’s chanpionship title.

There was a time when Ferrari F1 cars were impossible to buy. Once they had outlived their track life , Enzo Ferrari would order them destroyed.

Very few examples of the older machines still exist, they are not cheap to come by.
