From year 1962 till 1964, only 39 of Ferrari 250 GTO cars came out of the manufacturer’s factory, and ever since then, these exclusive and rare cars commanded hefty prices at the auctions. Topping the ranks amongst most expensive Ferrari car auctioned in United Kingdom, this particular vehicle will now grace the new Spanish owner’s car collection. Reportedly, Mr. Jon Hunt, the head of Foxtons Estate Agency is said to be the one who sold off his Ferrari 250 GTO. This vehicle is known to be the fastest Ferrari cars of that generation.
2. Roger Vadim’s 1959 Ferrari 250 GTO LWB

The 1959 Ferrari 250 GTO LWB was bought and sold by director Roger Vadim for about $6 million. Noted French movie director Jean Claude Bajol was also among the other famous owners of this car that boasts V12 Aluminum Alloy engine delivering 250 hp. The top speed of this car was recorded at around 233 km/h, while it reached 0-100 km/h in 6.5 secs.
3. 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spyder

At an auction in Monaco held by RM Auctions, the 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spyder was the most expensive lot, it sold for about $6.5 million. This particular race car with 320-hp V12 engine is 1 of 2 cars built by Ferrari. John v Neumann, the Pioneering American Ferrari importer and famed racing driver was the one who originally bought this car, and it remained under single ownership in California for more than 30 yrs.

At the Bonhams annual Aston Martin Works Service Sale, one of the respected Aston Martin’s, the 1991 DB4GT Zagato Sanction II Coupé, the result of the tie-up between Aston Martin and Zagato of Milan in 1960′s, hammered for $1.9 million. After a series of modifications, the car’s recent version, is 1 of only 4 Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato Sanction II’s made, comes from its current owners David Clark and Michael Brinkert of Taylor & Crawley of Germany. Equipped with a 4.2-liter engine and 4-speed David Brown gearbox, the 1st owner of the reworked version of the car is the historic and iconic racer Tony Smith, who also the manager of famous singer Phil Collins.

Driven by the winningist F-1 driver, Michael Schumacher, this Ferrari F1 racier hammered $1.02 million at an auction held in Monaco. Michael Schumacher raced this F1-2000 in the Austrian Grand Prix, before retiring after 1 lap following a collision. Subsequently re-built in Y 2008, this least-raced example is known to be 1 of only 8 produced and was the 1st ever designed in the Maranello wind tunnel.

After being sold at an auction in California for about $30 million, this sleek, curved vintage Bugatti became 1 of the world’s most expensive cars. One of just 3 produced, the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic is heralded for its art-deco elegance. Considered to be highly avant garde, this particular example came on the market following the death of its owner, Peter Williamson, a well known car collector and a neurologist.
7. 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa

There are only 21 other 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas, but none of them was quite so expensive in the year it was sold in. While the 1957 Testa Rossas won 10 of the 19 international races that they participated from 1958 and 1961, this one never finished better than 4th. The car’s finest quality is not its speed but its sheer beauty that gets highlighted from its body made by Sergio Scaglietti, the famed Italian designer. The car boasts pontoon fenders, which is said to have been one of Scagliettis favorites.

At the Pebble Beach sale held by the Gooding and Company in Y 2010, this rare 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione with chassis number 1603 GT hammered for a world record price of $7,260,000. This rare example is one of the select group of beautiful open Ferraris that ever saw track time, and is widely regarded as the ultimate LWB California Competizione. Imported by the most significant proponent of racing Californias, Luigi Chinetti, this rare racing beauty was then immediately sold to George Reed of Homewood. The California is beautiful, elegant, and perhaps too refined to be a racing car.
9. 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza

Known to be the ultimate Ferrari GT for years, the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta boasts a pure and well balanced shape, for which Sergio Pininfarina called it “the 1st of our 3 quantum leaps in design with Ferrari.” One of only 20 cars built, this SEFAC Hot Rod was sold new to Count Volpi under the manager’s infamous Scuderia Serenissima, and also holds an extraordinary racing history.

Number 5 of 7 examples, this 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Berlinetta has undergone professional restoration, is in outstanding condition with all matching numbers. It was never raced, and is certainly one of the most original racing Ferraris with a very well known history, including prominent collectors and movie stardom for being featured in the classic Italian film ‘The Fortune of being a Women.’ The car came to auction with a Ferrari Classiche certification.
12. 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (fully restored)

The fully-restored prototype of the 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa set a record as the highest priced car sold at the Gooding & Company’s sale at Pebble Beach. Equipped with some significant features of those times, the car is known to have an ill-fated career start, as at the end of the Le Mans 1958, this car was charred and was rendered beyond use, but after full restoration it won 10 out of the 16 international races that it took part in.
13. 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can-Am Spyder

The 1973 Porsche 917/30 Can-Am Spyder is by far known to be the most expensive Porsche in the world. It was sold at an auction by Gooding & Company at Amelia Island, Florida. Porsche only produced 4 of these cars, which can run faster than 240 mph. However, this particular example never raced and belonged to the car collection of Matthew Drendel, the late Porsche collector. Also, this model was featured in the Steve Mc Queen film Le Mans, made in Y 1971.

After taking control of Automobiles Tablot in 1935, Anthony Lago renamed the France based enterprise Talbot-Lago, and then immediately hired an engineer named Walter Brecchia, and together they created the first Talbot-Lago, which was based on a Talbot-Darracq three liter Type K78. Restored to perfection by RM Auto Restoration, this example is now finished in a lustrous black with a beautifully matched textured tobacco leather interiors. This sale marks only the 2nd time it was offered publicly since Y 1981.
15. 1937 BMW 328 MM ‘Buegelfalte’ Roadster

Known to be the world’s most significant pre-war sports racing cars, the 1-Off 1937 BMW 328 Mille Miglia ‘Buegelfalte’ is the only special roadster ever built at the BMW factory in Munich. With numerous race wins to its credit, this car became the pattern for a whole generation of post-war sports cars. Manufactured in Y 1937, this car was dismantled at the BMW factory’s racing division before being extensively re-engineered to craft both an aerodynamic coupe and this lightweight open roadster.
