Thailand Stock Charts: Thanachart Capital PCL บริษัท ทุนธนชาต จำกัด (มหาชน)
Thanachart Capital has just had almost $600m cash injected in to it and is trading well below the industry averages, while the news out of America and Europe may see the stock trade a little lower it is value buying on dips under B34. After Wall St settles in post election we should see the stock over B43.
The downgrade of the Banking sector by Citi at the end of October was to some extent unwarranted in my opinion, Thailand is well positioned in terms of growth and AEC 2013 should deliver new opportunities for Thailand’s Banks, it is true that there are challenges from Europe. Domestic demand will support the economy to some extent and increased inter-ASEAN Trade will also underpin Thai Banks.
Thanachart Bank, Thailand’s fifth-largest lender, is owned 51 percent by Thanachart Capital and 49 percent by Bank of Nova Scotia. Prudential has agreed to buy the insurance unit of Thanachart Bank for 368 million pounds ($590 million) in cash, helping the British insurer double its market share in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian market.
Thanachart Bank Chief Financial Officer Anuwat Luengtaweekul told Reuters the gains from the insurance divestment will help boost the bank’s capital by 2 percent, which will ease market concerns about its need to raise capital.
