Thai Film Industry Event at the 17th Busan International Film Festival
Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya SirivadhanaBarnavadi will preside over the Thai Film Industry Event at the 17th Busan International Film Festival on the 9th October 2012 at Westin Chosun Busan.
The Office of Commercial Affairs, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government are actively seeking to expand the growing success of the Thai Film Industry.
So far in 2012 there have been 433 Foreign Productions filmed in Thailand generating 1.88 billion Baht ($60m USD) in revenue. Over half of these productions have been from Countries in the region keen to feature Thailand’s stunning locations, domestic production facilities and technical talent.
The event will showcase Thailand as a premiere destination for filmmakers. Thai Night at the 17th Busan International Film Festival provides a unique setting for people involved in the film and entertainment industry to come together and to find networking avenues through which to negotiate investment at the country level, corporate and individual level.
Mr. Phoom Sarapol, Deputy Minister, The Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Thailand and Mrs. Srirat Rastapana, Director-General, Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government will be attending the event along with industry leaders from Thailand.
A number of International Celebrities and Industry Executives will also be present.
The Busan International Film Festival has grown to become Asia’s largest film festival. After its establishment in 1996 for the purpose of introducing and supporting Asia’s new directors and movies, BIFF is operating partially competitive sections and other diverse programs. It is also operating its project market, PPP, and film market, Asian Film Market.
Besides the expectations to create international investment partnerships in the film and entertainment industry, the most important outcome of the Thai Event is that it will lead to a continuing cultural exchange between Thailand and the international community.
