The Quest for Long-Term Success, “Your life is your creation”

Life is not something that just happen. If you think your life is out of your control, it’s because you have chosen to give up your role as its designer, engineer and architect.

It is what you make of it, as a young boy in the 1940’s my father told me, “Paul, you have the world with a fence around it, what you make of it is up to you.”

Life is what you make of it, if it is not good, make it good, start now: start by making simple decisions and taking action, moving away from what you do not want and to what you want. If you do not know what you want, figure it out.

I have know people in seemingly hopeless situations that have “dug” themselves out and make something better.

Below is a list of Mindsets that can improve your success, making you stronger and better, as follows:

1. Self discovery: “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” ― Aristotle

Life and living it is all about the journey. When you follow your True North you create new opportunities, have different experiences and create a the life you want.

Sitting back and letting things happen does not bring about quality of life, seek clarity.

No assessment is going to provide immediate clarity and sense of purpose. Seeking it can be a daunting experience, and stressful if the solutions you seek do not happen when you think you need them.

There’s no better feeling than when it become clear that you have unblocked a blockage in your life. Those moments are blessings, be openly thankful.

Be curios, be open, explore, be ready to embrace the surprises that come along the path. Good attitudes help the self-discovery process, help gain clarity about life’s purpose.

2. You responsible for Your life

The 1st courage in life is the courage to take responsibility for your life. As you alone are responsible for the person you are Now.

The best day in ones life is the day on which you decide your life is your’s.

The gift is yours , and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

“YOUAREONYOUROWN”, I still have that certificate that I received the 1st time I flew an airplane Solo.

Taking control of your success is no simple task. But, it can help you do better at work, develop stronger and more positive relationships, improve your personal productivity and satisfaction.

You have this ability and the responsibility for your life. Everyone has it, most us are not willing to accept knowing they have the power to live life how they want it.

Stop blaming others, for poor choices and tough circumstances, be accountable for your actions. And adopt a mindset of taking responsibility in your life, the Key to success is to begin knowing you want it and can do it.

3: Life is not perfect.

“There are many a slip, tween the cup and the lip”– I cannot remember who told me that, but I have never forgotten it.

There is no such thing as perfect.

You will not achieve every goal. So, spend time learning what to do when things go off as you do to create the plan in the 1st place.

The best strategy when making a plan is to make contingency plans, aka Plan B, for the Plan does not unfold according to Plan.

Do not be hobbled by failures, do not stop trying. Changes to the Plan are inevitable, so, shift gears when necessary.

Life is unpredictable, embrace it, be ready for change, as it is what makes life so interesting.

A wise man said, “When nothing is certain, everything is possible”

4. Every Obstacle is the way forward, persist and you will succeed

You will discover and learn that what matters most is not what obstacles are but how we see them, how we react to them, and whether you can stay composed.

You will learn that this reaction determines how successful you will be in overcoming , or possibly thriving because of   them.

Crisis is opportunity, a Chinese Proverb

Thomas Edison said, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”

People who persist no matter the obstacles, sooner or later are likely to succeed. Despite the setbacks, it’s in your best interest to turn obstacles into stepping stones.

Do not complain, or give up. These choices do nothing to get you The Chequered Flag.

Learn that the obstacle in your path is the path, use it as an opportunity to improve.

5. Everything in life is a journey

If you are not putting out 110% energy, effort and time into any process, progress will be slow or not happen at all.

The human brain aka mind, is full of cognitive biases that have been shaped overtime by experiences, events, and memories.

Over time, some beliefs can cause our brains to draw false conclusions about life that affects the way you think, and the decisions you make.

You do not always need the perfect plan. Sometimes you just need to try, let go, see what happens. That is courage.

Action bring on happenings outcome, gather momentum, become unstoppable.

This is America and people have more than 1 opportunity to create the life you want.

Remember, the old adage, “If at 1st you don’t succeed, try, try again”

6. Most people are not experts at the start, work on it,

You do not have to be great to start anything you care about. But you have to start right now if you want to be great at some point in your career.

The decision to start is the most important step you can ever take to be the best in the world at what you want to do.

Lots of people, maybe most quit the moment they experience that 1st disappointment.

It is a test, so look at everything along the path as a test, and fight through it, stick at it till you get it right.

Life is not a “Trip to Paris on the Concorde”, for those who do not remember that was the fastest, most luxurious air travel to the City of Lights in the 1970’s

You have to fight your way through.

That is what matters.

A few people stick around till they get it right, they rarely get it right in the beginning.

The greatest impediment to creativity is impatience, the almost inevitable desire to hurry up the process, express something, and make it quick.

Please know that if you want to be the best at anything, you need to be the best at practicing more than anyone else. The value of practice can have profound effects on your career. I practice every day of my life.

When you think can do no wrong, you lose the edge that keeps you alert and open to new opportunities for growth, be thankful each step along the path.

When you practice you improve, grow, advance; gaining a skills and confidence, because you get better with time.

7. The world does not reward perfectionists

The world does not reward perfectionists. It rewards people who get things done. Being perfect is not important, but getting the job done is what matters.

Following through and finishing things is one of the most important things you can learn.

You will struggle and screw up in the process, it is OK. Do not beat yourself up for making a mistake or making a wrong choice, that will lead to self destructive behavior.

Always move forward, knowing that at some point, the breakthrough will happen.

No matter how many mistakes you make, or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who is not trying.

Nose down, tail up, and head into the Wind.

Have a terrific week.
