President Trump to Call for UN Naval Blockade of NKorea
The United States’ effort to further isolate NKorea with tough measures including a a Crude Oil embargo will also call for a partial naval blockade.
The draft United Nations resolution authorizes naval vessels of any US member state to inspect North Korean ships suspected of carrying banned cargo and to use “all necessary measures to carry out such inspections.”
The implications of such a resolution would be far-reaching, since any attempt to board or divert a NKorean vessel could trigger an exchange of fire.
The draft resolution also calls for a block on textile exports and the hiring of NKorean labor by foreign countries.
The US delegation has called for the UN Security Council to debate the draft in the wake of NKorea’s 6th nuclear test last Sunday.
The measure would also freeze the assets of Kim Jong Un and his Top leaders where ever they are world wide
Have a terrific week.
