Oracle NASDAQ:ORCL will pay next 3 Quarterly dividends early
Monday Oracle Corp.’s board announced that the company will pay dividends for the next 3 Quarters early, joining a list of companies making pay outs ahead of a possible dividend-tax increase in Y 2013.
The software company will payout a total of 0.18 per share on 21 December.
Oracle typically pays a quarterly dividend of 0.06 a share and was scheduled to pay next in February.
The accelerated payment, for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarters of F-Y 2013, will cost the company about $867.4-M. As of 17 September the company had over 4.82-B shares outstanding.
Oracle’s CEO and largest stockholder, Lawrence J. Ellison, did not participate in the deliberation or the vote on this matter, the company said.
Mr. Ellison holds 1.1-B Oracle shares and is in line for a dividend of $198.9-M.
A representative for Oracle could not be reached for comment.
Shares traded off 0.8% at 32.04 after-hours trading Monday. The stock is up 22% on the year as Monday’s close.
