Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) May Break $4 in Q1 2013

The deal Nokia did with China Mobile, which saw the operator agree to carry a version of Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone 8 handset, the Lumia 920T, that has been tailored to the Chinese market is just the beginning of Nokia’s rush to the low end of the market, a section of the market that has been ignored by the major Smartphone companies.

Nokia Lumia 620, the new handset running on Windows Phone 8 debuted at the LeWeb tech conference in Paris on Wednesday with a positive reception.

The handset has a 3.8 inch screen, resolution of 800 by 480, a 5-mega pixel camera at the rear and a front facing camera too.
With 8 GB of internal memory it also has a micro SD expansion slot.

It is available in a wider range of colours including lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black and is expected to start selling at $249, first in Asia and then in European and Middle Eastern markets.

Nokia also seems to be in the process of introducing a range of low end WP7.5 and WP7.8 phones.

Nokia dropped out of the top five for global smartphone shipments in the third quarter for the first time ever, according to the latest report by market researcher International Data Corp (IDC), issued in October.

Its worldwide sales declined 21.9 percent to 7.2 million units in the third quarter year-on-year and its global ranking tumbled to the No. 7 with a market share of 4.3 percent, the IDC data showed.
