Ferrari made significant modifications to the LaFerrari chassis to ensure torsional rigidity and beam stiffness matches the coupe. The aerodynamics were tweaked to compensate for the missing roof.
The LaFerrari Aperta will come with a removable panel that likely needs to be stored at home. A fabric clip on “top” can be used temporally should the weather good turn off en route.
Power comes from the LaFerrari’s hybrid system that consists of a 6.3-liter V-12, a pair of electric motors and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
One of the motors helps the V-12 engine the rear wheels and recovers energy under braking, while the other spends most of its time as a generator, drawing its power from the V-12 and ensuring the batteries have a minimum level of charge. The combined output is an impressive 950 hp.
