The prestigious, pop art gallery, Skye Art Gallery, is located prominently in the upscale Forum Shops in Caesar’s Palace on the 3rd Floor next to the trendy shops and restaurants. At first glance, you might mistake them for another typical Vegas gallery, which they are not. You won’t find stale art and recycled artists sold in every gallery on the strip here; Vanessa and Elena Skye carefully curated the gallery and were thrilled to get such an internationally celebrated artist as Nelson De La Nuez’s for the gallery. “When you think of the top, most influential artists of our generation, they would typically be found in cities such as New York, London, Europe. We wanted Skye Gallery to bring them to Las Vegas for the first time. This is why we chose Nelson De La Nuez, whose work can be seen in some of the most important art scenes worldwide, such as Art Basel, Art Hamptons, among countless others,” explains Vanessa.
Skye Gallery is hosting an unforgettable artist reception for De La Nuez’s Icons of Pop show over Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 7-11pm. “He will be here personally to meet collectors and sign art and books while we serve fabulous drinks, champagne with showgirls, music and appetizers/desserts. We know how to throw a party in Vegas!” Vanessa says. “Most exciting…the artist will be revealing some brand new pieces that evening that he just finished. All we know about one is that it has a political theme so we can’t wait to unveil it that evening along with several other new pieces,” she continues to say. There will be an extensive body of De La Nuez’s work there along with the brand new works being shown.
De La Nuez’s artwork recently reported sales from galleries and private collectors for one of a kind, unique pieces and originals fetching on average between $30,000-$105,000. His galleries are scattered about in all major sophisticated cities from Palm Beach to Aspen to the Hamptons and everywhere in between with Vegas being the newest destination gallery for his work. “Skye Gallery is dedicated to great pop art, which is what made Nelson De La Nuez’s work a perfect match for our gallery. After all…Nelson is without a doubt, the King of Pop Art!” Vanessa proclaims. “We are honored to be the home gallery for De La Nuez art in Las Vegas. One can always find some of his latest pieces at Skye.”
“He already had a well established collector base in Las Vegas and worldwide for the tourists, so it was easy to connect with buyers. They love his work and have been so happy to find his art here,” Skye mentions.
Nelson De La Nuez paints themes about flying first class, fabulous shoes, wall street and designer brands that appeal strongly to the 1%, often millennial’s who relish in luxury lifestyles with private jets and gourmet chefs at hand. Whether people are wealthy and successful or aspire to that life, the art seems to be a way of proclaiming their thoughts in public on their walls for all to see. “It’s hanging a bit of their personality on the wall literally. Art is one of the few ways you can state who you are the minute someone walks in the room,” he explains. Although his hand painted pieces and originals may hang on the walls of the wealthy and privileged, the artist never wants to exclude people from his world of art. “There are different types of pieces and sizes, some editions available of various images so that my work can still be accessible to everyone,” he promises. Vanessa further says that a bit of everything will be at the show on Sept. 3rd. He has a limited edition sculpture that is close to being sold out “Pop Donuts” that looks so much like real donuts, people try to eat them.
She is expecting an exciting evening and welcomes press. Please RSVP to gallery, PR # or on their site at link below.
