Hillary Clinton Paid Millions For Speeches By Tech Industry

US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton received millions of dollars in paid speeches from the tech industry.

One of Mrs. Clinton’s last paid speeches was at a summit on women in the marketplace hosted by eBay (NYSE:EBAY), in which she was paid $315,000, The W-P reported Tuesday.

One of the 1st fundraisers Mrs. Clinton held for her campaign was a couple of months after that talk at the home of eBay’s CEO John Donahoe.
Together, Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton were paid a total of $25-M since January 2014 for speeches they delivered.

According to W-P, $3.2-M of the $11.7-M Mrs. Clinton was paid for speeches during that time period came from the tech industry, and it was the largest source of her speaking fees. Plus, several of Mrs. Clinton’s most active supporters of her bid for the White House are executives at tech companies.

Tech companies that paid Mrs. Clinton for speeches include Xerox (NYSE:XRX), Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), and Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM).

The former Secretary of State also gave a large percentage of paid speeches to both the healthcare and financial industries.

W-P says that this disclosure marks the 1st look into Mrs. Clinton’s success on the speaking circuit since leaving her post at the US State Department.

It also shows that the Clintons have benefited from the same groups and individuals who support their political campaigns and their charitable efforts, while the donors gain access to both a former and possibly a future president.

Mrs. Clinton received $451,000 for 2 speeches she gave at Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM). The CEO of Salesforce, Marc Benioff, has also donated to Ready for Hillary, the super PAC that led up to her campaign. There are similar scenarios with other tech executives.

The Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation is expected to release a list of speeches given by all 3 later this week, which totals about 100 since Y 2002.

There is a connection between the Clintons’ paid speeches and the Clinton Foundation; a minimum of 72 groups that have donated to the foundation have also paid the Clintons for speeches since Y 2001.
