$RACE

Lewis Hamilton put himself in Pole position to win his 4th Formula One world championship after  the qualifying session for the US Grand Prix.

The British driver, who takes a 59-point lead into Sunday’s race, will start side by side with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

Mr. Hamilton needs to score 16 more points than his rival to take the title with 3 rounds remaining.

If Mr. Hamilton converts his 72nd career pole into victory over the 56-lap race, Mr. Vettel must finish in the Top 5 to take the battle to Mexico next weekend, then to Brazil or Abu Dhabi.
