F1 Spa Results: The Prancing Horse ‘Gored’ by Red Bull at Turn 1

$RACE

Sunday’s  start was fascinating. Things went perfectly for MercedesAMG’s Nico Rosberg, who surged ahead easily, but it was disastrous for a few of the other contenders.

The 2 Ferrari drivers touched on Turn 1, with Sebastian Vettel stranded in the middle of the track. Kimi Raikkonen suffered front wing damage too, so both drivers endured major setbacks early on as they were gored at Turn 1 by an overly aggressive Max Verstappen in his Red Bull racer, Kimi continued on and returned to the pits with part of his car on fire.

An incident-filled start continued, as Renault’s Kevin Magnussen was involved in a high-impact crash at Raidillon, which eventually brought out a Red Flag so the tire barriers could be fixed.

Mr. Rosberg drove from the Pole to Chequered Flag victory at the Belgian Grand Prix Sunday.

Mr. Rosberg driving was flawless in an otherwise wild race, building up a comfortable gap between himself and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, who came 2nd.

MercedesAMG’s Lewis Hamilton who started in 21st position on the grid, capitalized on the chaotic start to move through the field quickly, taking 3rd.

This run sees Mr. Hamilton’s lead at the Top of the world championship get pared to 9 points.
