F1: Ferrari’s (NYSE:RACE) New Racer Comes to Life
Ferrari has fired up its 2018 F1 car for the 1st time at its HQ in Maranello.
The new Ferrari is due to be launched on 22 February before official F1 testing gets underway on 26 February. The 1st fire-up of a new F1 car is seen as a significant milestone within The Scuderia, and Ferrari released a short clip of the engine being brought to life.
The iconic Italian manufacturer, is keen to continue its upward momentum for the Y 2018 season in the hunt for its 1st world title since Y 2008.
Following a similar teaser video released by MercedesAMG last week, Ferrari has produced a video of its currently unnamed 2018 F1 car’s engine starting up for the 1st time.
Ferrari is the 1st team to announce its Y 2018 team launch date which is scheduled as an online launch at Maranello on 22 February, the same day as Mercedes reveals its F1 car at Silverstone.
Ferrari will complete filming laps and a shakedown test at its private tack Fiorano before travelling to Circuit de Catalunya in Spain for the 2 pre-season tests.
Ferrari is rumored to have booked the circuit on 25 February, the day before the opening day of testing for additional filming laps before the season begins.
The Maranello outfit heads into Y 2018 with an unchanged driver line-up of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen as it looks to maintain its promising start under last year’s technical regulations shake-up which saw Mr. Vettel lead the F1 drivers’ standings for the opening 12 rounds before being reeled in by MercedesAMG and Lewis Hamilton.
Currently, Ferrari will be the 4th F1 team to unveil its Y 2018 racer, all equipped with the new Halo safety cockpit protector, Williams kicks off the team launches on 15 February.
After the 2nd F1 pre-season test concludes in Spain on 9 March F1 all teams will have 2 weeks to prepare for the Y 2018 season opener in Australia at Albert Park, Melbourne on 23-25 March.
