F1: Ferrari (NYSE:RACE) Leads in Driver’s & Constructors Championship Races
Ferrari (NYSE:RACE) got a head start with its title-challenging car for Y 2017 according to The Boss of the MercedesAMG team, winner the last 3 Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel is now 25 points ahead of MercedesAMG’s Lewis Hamilton in this year’s Drivers’ action, while The Scuderia is leading MercedesAMG by 17 in the Constructors’ standings.
“To our knowledge, Ferrari started development of its car very early — in December 2015. For us, it was only March 2016,” Toto Wolff said in a press interview Wednesday. “By then, Ferrari already had more than 50% of its resources on the new car.”
“Ferrari has perhaps a 16-wk lead on us and the pack, and in that time you can find down-force worth 4 or 5 10ths,” said Mr. Wolff.
As far as the Drivers’ title goes, Ferrari may be favoring of lead driver Sebastian Vettel without issuing direct Team orders. Team management denies this, but there is a suspicion in the F1 motoring press the Kimi Raikkonen was strategically disadvantaged so Mr. Vettel could win last Sunday at Monaco.
I watched the race start to finished and did not see that, what I saw with superior driving by Mr. Vettel on a tight and difficult course, where Mr. Vettel gained an slight advantage to go ahead and stay ahead. Ferrari ended a 16 year drought at Monaco, finishing 1-2 at the Chequered Flag.
The press in racing and in politics always ask conspiracy theory question, that happens to create interest and “sell newspapers” Yes?
