Exxon (NYSE:XOM) fighting fire at Baytown TX refinery
Exxon Mobil Corp. is fighting a fire that broke out at its refinery in Baytown, Texas, the company said Wednesday.
The Baytown refinery, a 5 sq mi complex that produces fuels and petrochemicals, has a capacity of 584,000 BPD, making it the largest operating refinery in the US and one of the largest in the world.
Exxon was using its own emergency crews to battle the fire, Exxon spokeswoman Rachael Moore said in an email.
“The incident is being brought under control,” Ms. Moore said. “As a precaution, our Industrial Hygiene staff is doing air quality monitoring around the complex and in the community.”
Ms. Moore did not immediately comment on whether the fire resulted in any injuries.
