Donald Trump, “US Military Assistance to Israel is an Excellent Investment”
Donald Trump met with Israel’s PM Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu privately at the GOP nominee’s Trump Tower Sunday, vowing to “finally accept the longstanding congressional mandate to recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel.”
In a statement from the Trump Campaign, they also discussed “at length Israel’s successful experience with a security fence” an issue Trump has made a cornerstone of his campaign, as well as “the nuclear deal with Iran, the battle against ISIS and many other regional security concerns.”
Mr. Netanyahu was accompanied to the meeting by Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, and Donald Trump was joined by his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Mr. Netanyahu met Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton late Sunday before flying back to Israel.
In the statement, Donald Trump described US military assistance to Israel as an “excellent investment,” and Middle East peace can only be achieved when “the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State.”
Donald Trump has taken a 1-pt lead over Hillary Clinton in the latest Morning Consult national poll released Sunday.
The results are as follows:
Donald Trump: 39%
Hillary Clinton: 38%
Gary Johnson 9%
Jill Stein: 4%
Donald Trump trailed Mrs. Clinton 42 % to 40% in the survey last week. The close results of both polls are within the margin of error.
The survey was released on the eve of Monday’s 1st Presidential debate, with 67% of registered voters saying they expect to watch it.
