Donald Trump, “Judge Ginsberg’s remarks ‘highly inappropriate'”
Donald Trump shot back at Ruth Bader-Ginsburg Tuesday, calling the US Supreme Court judge’s negative remarks about him “highly inappropriate” and suggested she apologize to her fellow jurists.
“I think it’s highly inappropriate that a United States Supreme Court judge gets involved in a political campaign, frankly,” Donald Trump said.
On Sunday, Ginsburg said in an interview with The NY Times: “I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our President. For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.”
Donald Trump was taken back by Bader-Ginsburg’s remark, which was uncharacteristically frank public opinion for a Supreme Court Justice.
“I think it’s a disgrace to the court and I think she should apologize to the court. I could not believe it when I saw it. That she should be saying that?” Donald Trump said.
It’s so beneath the court for her to be making statements like that. It only energizes my base even more. And I would hope that she would get off the court as soon as possible.”
On the campaign trail
Democrat Hillary Clinton’s lead over Donald Trump has narrowed to just 3 points, with both candidates polling slightly below 50% after FBI Director James Comey’s announcement that he would not recommend criminal charges against her in connection with her use of a private e-Mail server while she was Secretary of State, according to a new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll revealed Tuesday.
Hillary Clinton is outspending Donald Trump by a 15-to-1 margin, NBC News reports.
Mrs. Clinton’s campaign has spent $25-M on general election advertising and combined with $32-M from allied super PACs, the total paid comes to $57-M. Compare this to $3.6-M for Trump ads, none of which came from his campaign.
