The JULIUS MEINL story began in 1862 when Julius Meinl I opened his first grocery store, selling mainly spices and green coffee, in the center of Vienna. He created coffee blends and was the first to offer them freshly roasted for sale. Julius Meinl had found a new market as his innovation saved customers the challenge of roasting green coffee beans on their kitchen stoves.

With 150 years of experience, the Julius Meinl name guarantees quality coffee of unrivaled aroma and taste. They have remained synonymous with know-how, tradition, and products of the highest quality.

In 2002, Julius Meinl expanded its global operation into North America with a traditional Viennese coffeehouse in Chicago, Illinois. The Meinl family remains active in the company with hopes of sharing the Viennese coffeehouse culture through each cup of Meinl coffee.

Our customers are provided with the finest authentic gelato available. In Europe, gelaterias are more than simply ice cream parlors, they are an integral part of their neighborhoods, where family and friends meet and mingle. They provide an avenue for the community to sustain a friendly exchange and joyful sharing of life’s simple pleasures. Gelaterias are an ingrained part of the European psyche that helps to foster, nourish, and sustain the uniquely way of life.

We make all our flavors of Gelato and Sorbets fresh daily on our premises, using fresh, natural and organic ingredients.
Everyday our Gelato and Pastry chefs are starting at 4 am, to prepare the freshest possible product, for our customers by the morning hours.

The My Vienna | Gelato & Coffee Team is proud to present our products with full-service and in beautifully prepared glasses.

We also offer Gelato “to-go” in sugar & waffle cones, paper cups and insulated boxes (which we like to call “bricks”).
