• Thai court orders seizure of $1.4 billion from ex-premier’s frozen assets
Thailand’s Supreme Court Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Friday seized assets valued at 46 billion baht ($1.4 billion) from former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra out of the entire 76.6 billion baht ($2.3 billion) in his frozen assets, reported state news agency TNA.

• Myanmar court rejects appeal for Suu Kyi’s release
The highest court in military-ruled Myanmar dismissed opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s latest bid for freedom Friday, turning down an appeal to end 14 years of house arrest, the Associated Press quoted her lawyer as saying.

• Development charge for residential homes to go up in Singapore
The Singaporean government has increased the development charge rate for both non-landed and landed residential homes. Analysts said this is in line with the strong rebound in home sales and prices over the last six months, reported Channel News Asia.

• Japan’s energy firm to start oil production in Vietnam
Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, Idemitsu Cuu Long Petroleum Co., Ltd. commenced the commercial production from the Nam Rong – Doi Moi oil field (the NR-DM oil field) offshore Vietnam on February 25, 2010, reported VNBusinessNews.com.

• Philippines: Four more airlines seen starting operations at capital’s airport
The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) is confident that four new international carriers will start flying out of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3 by the end of the year, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
