Chair of the National Assembly, Nguyen Phu Trong recently paid a five-day official visit to India (February 23 to 28) and Indonesia (February 28 to March 3) confirming the hope of promoting the close tie between Vietnam with these two countries, reported VNBusinessNews.com.

A lawyer for detained Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi said he is optimistic that Myanmar’s highest court will grant an appeal to free her, reported the Associated Press.

• Indonesia to reopen telecom towers to foreign investment

Investment Coordinating Board chairman Gita Wirjawan revealed here on Thursday that the government would push ahead with its plan to open the telecommunications towers to foreign investment to help the telecommunications industry grow faster to keep up with soaring demand, reported the Jakarta Post.

• Singapore developers to bring forward launches

The Real Estate Developers’ Association of Singapore (REDAS) on Thursday announced that its members will be bringing forward property launches, the Channel News Asia reported.

• Gokongwei bank buying RBS Philippine unit

The Gokongweis have struck a deal to acquire the local commercial banking unit of beleaguered Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) plc, which has put up some Asian businesses for sale as part of its streamlining, reported the Philippines Daily Inquirer.
