One of the setting options takes its inspiration from the local boats known as “thung”, which are set up as anchors on the secluded stretch of Vietnamese coastline. The beach ranks as one of the finest in the country, and fishermen still work the waters just offshore, many aboard the same type of traditional boat.


The ‘thung’ is a small, bowl-shaped basket boat of bamboo with a ubiquitous presence along Vietnam’s coastline, as many local fishermen rely on them to survive. They date back to Vietnam’s French colonial era, when the Vietnamese built them to bypass laws forcing fishermen to pay taxes for owning boats, arguing they were “just a giant basket”.   


Cooled by a sea breeze, guests can feast on a broad range of cuisine options, ranging from a taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine and Asian flavours to looking further afield for a selection of international choices, barbecue or vegetarian fare.


In addition to the shovelnose lobster sourced offshore, other local food specialties include chargrilled “Phan Thiet” scallops and traditional “Mui Ne” shrimp fresh rolls with local herbs.  The region is also renowned for its fish sauce, the Vietnamese equivalent of olive oil, and dragon fruit flowers that make for a delectable addition to salads and beef dishes.


The resort’s sommelier is on hand to present a selection of international wines and champagnes to pair with Dining By Design dishes.
